Trucks not listening to permissions in 0.8.6c

Epy · 11 days ago

Hi

I was playing on 0.8.6a a few days ago and didn't encounter this problem. Since this last update yesterday, despite the only allowed trucks being the yellow ones getting items from a storage, amphibious ones are also retrieveing materiels from it.

I join a screen capture to confirm I'm not making a mistake on what this parameter should do

Thanks

I notice you've listed two different versions on your post (0.8.6c in the title, 0.8.6a in the body)- could you clarify? And perhaps provide reproduction instructions, maybe explain what the amphibious trucks are doing with the cargo in question, what the regular trucks are doing/supposed to be doing with it?

Ok, sorry for being unclear:

I didn't have this issue with 0.8.6a a few days ago, when I first used this filter; now with 0.8.6c I have this issue:

I have a big storage (the production one) where I want to only allow yellow trucks now, and disallow amphibious ones.

I have a smaller storage, near my bridge construction site, where I want amphibious trucks to go get the materials: they don't, they go to the big one, farther and not allowed to them in theory.

The picture is where I disallowed amphibious trucks, at least it was my objective.

Thanks

Edit: more tests: I removed the filter on the small storage saying that only amphibious trucks could take from it (deposit is blocked for everyone) it worked better: like the filter allowing only is doing the opposite. I'm testing now if the filter set on the picture above blocks yellow trucks from taking materials

Could someone test it ?

It really seems the filter is doing the opposite it says it's doing (disallowing selected trucks instead of allowing them)

It sounds like it might be possible that storage requests are interfering with it- if the smaller one is requesting to be filled, that will disallow trucks from emptying it below that point. It's also possible that it's so small that its entire content is being reserved for removal, forcing the amphibious trucks to look elsewhere- whereupon they might be misinterpreting various "except" rules to mean they can get stuff from elsewhere as well.

It's also entirely possible that this is a resurgence of this bug in a new form, after they fixed it in 0.8.6 by... changing the rules, apparently, rather than how the trucks interact with them.

I should have said that the small storage one is filled thanks to another storage making the request:

I often use two storages connected one to the other: first one forbiddens taking while asking for a certain level of filling, the other forbiddens filling and allows trucks to take from. This way, trucks will fill and take: the last one will be full, the first will constantly be filled to the threshold.

My last test showed filter was not reversed: I set amphibious trucks in the filter of big storages to disallow them (if reversed), some of them went anyway.

Thanks for your answers about this and filling the gaps 👍

Ahh! So a storage setup not too dissimilar from this, then, albeit without the belts, and with different permissions set:

I will note that "Sponge" there has the truck filter set expressly because, when I had amphibious trucks in 0.8.5 (they've been dismantled as no longer needed), they couldn't deliver to it by default- even for deconstruction. Judging by tooltips, that's changed, but I haven't tested.

That said, this tooltip might explain the issue- one I usually solve by assigning the amphibious trucks to the desired pickup storage, when building bridges:

"Construction trucks ignore this filter, including any explicit storage override." That tidbit is replicated in the tooltip of the storage-specific filters too. As such... this might actually be Works As Designed?

Yes I use a similar setup for these storages.

I'm a bit lost with their tooltip and exclusions, and then inclusion ..

We don't want amphibious to take jobs on the ground obviously, why would they ignore authorization or ban on storages, they will need to get materials for the bridges, and we don't have storages on water ..

I hoped having a nearby storage filled by the others would work.. maybe not :(

Hmm... You could place a series of Vehicle Barriers with 3-4 empty tiles between them... Pickups & Trucks will still go right past them, but Amphibious (& Haul Trucks) will be unable to pass, and thereby denied permission to retrieve from those storages.

hmm, that's ok as a workaround for these but shouldn't the filter do its thing ?

And how about the reverse filter were I want only Amphibious to get from the storage near the bridge I'm constructing ?
