Potatoes, wheat, corn, sugar cane, and fruit could have other uses than feeding pops. Rather than impacting your food supply, it would be great if excess foodstuffs could be converted into beer, wine, or spirits that increases unity. Much like how snacks make use of potatoes in the midgame with a new production chain, alcohol could shake up how we make use of the existing production of food. This also creates an additional challenge, for instance, if I forget that I went overboard converting my wheat into spirits or beer instead of bread would cause a starvation crisis.
