Too much startup copper

At the start of the game (easiest) you have 448 copper. This figure is increased by early exploration to over 600. At the point the Tutorial wants you to build copper smelting etc you already have way too much anyway when the only use is electronics. Too much starting copper

That depends on a map. You are assuming that there is a large copper mine nearby. On Insula Mortis map, the starter copper mine is quite small and you have to plan to move a long distance to reach a large copper mine. While you are working on setting up the real copper mining op (elevation ramps, chop trees, build extra trucks) your maintenance and construction are burning through that copper stash like there is no tomorrow.
