With the coming of trains, I wonder if it would be possible to have a train station at mines that loads mixed cargos into hopper cars that then go to a rail serviced ore sorter. That way, all sorters can be in one central location instead of at each and every mine.
Mixed Ore Trains?
This would make centralizing ore sorting very nice, besides just being cool. I think it should work via a special filter for "mixed" loads, not a filter for specific mixes.
Yes, please. That way i can have it sorted in one big ore sorting facility (i dont really see the point of a big ore sorting facility otherwise) instead of many small ones dotted around.
As an added feature to this, I would like to see an ore sorter (the large sorter makes the most sense in my mind) that can either be directly dumped into by trains, or allow it to be belt fed, or better yet, both.
The large ore sorting plant is frustrating, it exists but is almost useless because we don't have mixed ore trains, unless we want trucks to navigate from all the mines to the centralized big ore sorting plant... fun but i'd be good to have more choices than just trucks everywhere. Unsorted ore on belts feels overpowered but on trains i think it could be balanced.
idk how its done, or how much work it would be, but the setting could change what's mined. no sorters would mine like now. if sorting, miners could mine something like recyclables that need a sorter to to separate.
