once your coal runs out and you haven't found the coal mine yet what are you going to do to smelt and produce and when assemblers get better you would need half the man power but twice the electron juice?
i suggest that there should be more power alternatives to these problems:
1a better assemblers should use slightly less people then they currently do but cost more running power (-1 worker on the current amount with 50% power usage)
1b and assembler recipes that increase the power consumption to use less people
2 add induction heater/smelters that use lots of power take time but can turn ore and ore mixes into molten goods
3 electric vehicles they have a reduced capacity and need charging regularly but move faster
4 batteries such as acid salt and more based batteries to hold excess power in case of emergencies
