Right now trying to keep belts/pipes & pillars clean and consistent is the biggest QOL annoyance to me. With the current mechanics, trying to fix the issue tends to make it worse, and you need to delete existing belts/pipes to place new ones without unnecessary pillars. Newly built sections do not get merged with existing sections, creating their own pillars & needing to be deleted separately.

IMO:
1. Building a new section of belt/pipe onto an existing belt/pipe should not automatically create a new pillar, it needs to take the existing section into account for pillar placement.
2. Newly built sections of belt/pipe should be merged into the existing belt/pipe once built. These sections remain separated by connectors & balancers & lifts as-is currently.
3. Pillars should be able to be deleted, accounting for existing pillars support.
