The UI of a game, along with its hotkeys, should be designed such that it is almost never needed to perform two consecutive actions with the mouse.
CoI violates this everywhere.
I just started the game on the latest update and was excited to read that hotkeys had been added for Storage and TF only to be disappointed when i noticed that this meant the building categories.
The BCs not having hotkeys it bad enough but giving one to only some of them is almost insulting.
What i expected when i read these hotkeys was that i would be able to press a key to open:
"Edit Area" in the MCT
The dropdown to assign a ressource in storage and ore sorters.
The same hotkey could also be used to cycle the categories in the Cpt office.
The MCT especialy is a joke compared to the version i used 2 years ago.
Clicking on the tower, move the mouse top left, move the mouse all the way to the bottom,
then back up to drag the square.
Play your own game please. This should annoy you within ten minutes.
Lesson on proper hotkeys
Your tone is very disrespectful to the devs. Your arguments could be stated in a much more kind way. Generally phrasing things this way can be considered "dev bashing" and is typically frowned upon.
Hotkeys are a "nice to have" not an essential item.
Being able to operate a game via keyboard alone is an accessibility item, which is likely to not be a focus until late in the development process.
Also, I have no idea where your presumed quote in the first line is from and thus its source cannot be validated. However, I find its assertion absurd.
All of this aside, I agree that the "Edit Area" and draw rectangle buttons in the mine control tower's UI could benefit from hotkeys. As well as the fact that the current UI implementation of assigning a mining control tower's area could use some improvement. However, I refuse to upvote this post because of your tone.
