It would be quite convenient for certain control systems if it was possible to slow down a machine and/or transport to a % of its full capacity.
For example, if you would like to guarantee that a machine exactly 10 units of goods per 60 (but no more).
Example two is that you might want to even out your power consumption and limit certain machine to a certain power level.
