For a while I have been looking into, and been very curious about a particular way of harvesting thermal energy from sunlight. Tracked satellite dishes that reflect visible light rather than radio waves, tracking the sun, has shown to have incredible capabilities of heating up water at it's focal point. Size and quality of focal point, alongside a dark coated boilerplate. Could achieve extreme temperatures when tracked to the direction of sunlight.
Even amateur constructions of these show to have surprising amount of heat gains as shown in this video: https://youtu.be/Alx_vwyksTw and would be a rather unique design to put into the game.
Such solar farm could potentially make steam with enough scaling and size. And be an unique way of making steam using sunlight in the game, and require very late game research of course.
They could be built as individual large dishes, with 3 steam options with varying production from each, offset by sun strength. Like steam low/high/super.
