Why can't we dump scrap?

We can dump uranium onto the ground, and oils into the ocean.
Why can't we dump scraps into our landfills? i.e. Broken glass, Aluminum scrap etc...

I think scrap is too valuable to be just dumped. Also not produced in such quantities where you would need big storage either. If you need landfill, there are so many other options...

I think it’s just silly to dump scrap at all when it can be so easily reused.

Feeding scrap into the production process is the best way to lower demands on mining/import of materials later in the game. You should be recycling/prioritizing scrap input FIRST, then making new materials from ore as needed.

Hell yeah!! Scrap yard would be pretty sweet!
