If you drag a belt for the longest section possible the pillars will set even BUT NOT the last segment - That is annoying.
The longest section you're able to place in one go is 32 tiles (not counting the start-tile).
The pillars will placed with 8 tiles space in between (sum up to 9 tiles if you count the pillar too).
9 goes in 32 3 times (3*9=27). Remaining 5. So the last gap is 4 plus the final pillar.
Therefor the placement for tiles is:
S--------P--------P--------P----P
(S=start, -=gap, P=pillar)
If you like even placed pillars (like me) you need to manually find the position for the last pillar.
Also it is annoying to do so many clicks. Placement of trains is much better.
So pleas consider to allow longer sections for placement. AND PLEASE chose a length witch is a multiply of 9 so the pillars will fit with even gaps.
Thanks.
A sligtly longer placing distance for belts and pipes

You've figured out how the pipes work.
Just back up to the last generated pillar, click... continue to make until you reach the limit.
It isn't ideal, but it works.
what we need is adjustable pillars like the trains have, that would be a great tool to have. (and a longer distance for laying pipe)
