I occasionally use ore sorters for two (or more) mines, particularly the large ore sorter. I can find one desired output material getting full and the input cache then gets backed up from the one mine. I will often then pause the mine in question until the cache is clear. I would like to be able to automate this.
Basically, if the output for say copper gets full, then the associated copper mine should be paused until the output for copper drops below a threshold. (say 50%) If the ore sorter is also supporting a limestone mine, then the limestone cache and mine should behave the same.
Pause mine based on amount of ore in ore sorter
great idea but only if the ore sorter gets alot more space. stupid to shut down a whole mine for 2 truckloads when 10 truckloads are on the way.
please disregard the comment. i misunderstood the goal. but can not delete the comment.
May be complated to do, but it is not necessary, as only a few early years it makes sense to send several materials to same sorter. Later on you would want to have one per each target product.
Also no need to pause entire mine, i would just prevent trucks with given material being able to unload it, so they will wait nearby for theirs turn. Then it would not need to be linked to mines.
Even with the large sorter, if there are two mines close together, it can make sense to have a single sorter. I'd prefer to have this option, but it requires that the sorter not become blocked with the ore from one mine. Basically, if I have a sorter with two or more useful products, I want to be able to prevent the sorter from becoming blocked. (e.g. I don't want my copper production to stop because I've got more limestone in the sorter than my cement production can use)
