You could use trains to transport your trucks and excavators on specialized platforms in a train. In the case of mega excavators and trucks, you could partially disassemble them to transport them. Which would add a bit of realism.

Already requested a lot, but difficult to do. I would rather see the ability to set mega-excavator to be transported to target location - it would turn it into a building for deconstruct (with special parts) and also new building would be set at target to be constructed requiring those parts.
But you can argue that to assemble this monstrosity you need depot anyway, so you can use current means of transport...

In reality, a single loading/unloading station for vehicles would be enough.
You would enter the number and type of vehicles to load, and once set, the vehicle would head to the loading area — just like when you upgrade an excavator or any other vehicle from the dropdown menu in the fleet overview.
You could add a wagon with a certain capacity for transporting vehicles. A closed wagon could also work for graphical simplicity. Then, when the train arrives at the unloading station, the vehicles appear nearby or in a sort of parking area, waiting for orders and assignment.
The same idea could be applied to livestock transport: perhaps adding open‑air farms, with animals being loaded onto trains for transport to the slaughterhouse.
The same concept could be extended to the port as well — adding containers and dedicated train transport to make it more realistic.
