Not able to select large areas to remove mining and dumping zones

Issue description

I've asked some others, so this may be a specific issue for my mouse, but it is quite irritating in game. When trying to clear a mining or dumping area using the right mouse button, the majority of the time it will stop early, maybe only covering one or two tiles, and it will cause the screen to also jump around erratically. So to clear a 20x20 area, it could take many clicks just in order to get rid of it. I've tried clicking outside the area, inside, moving the mouse slower, etc. But to no avail.

Like I said, I've asked some other people about this, and they don't seem to have an issue with it. This is happening on two computers of mine, the only thing in common between them is the type of mouse and keyboard, meaning they are the same types, but not the same physical keyboard and mouse. It is a Logitech MX Ergo, model number 910-005177.

Also, this only happens when removing areas, it does not happen when I'm creating mining or dumping zones.

Expected behavior

To be able to right-click and select a large amount of area to remove.

Reproduction steps

  1. Create a large mining or dumping area
  2. Right click with the mouse and start dragging to select the area

I very much doubt that it is an issue with your mouse either software or drivers. If other programs are fine, and you only have issues with this game, then it is the game that has the issue. In other words, Software issue.

Are you near the corners of the map when this happens?
There are areas on the corners of each map that cause this.

(Currently there is no way to show the overall area of the map in this game. I believe there is a suggestion somewhere that requests that the border be visible.)

You need to drag the area while hovering over an existing designation. You can also use CTRL + left click if that helps. Othetwise this seems like something on your HW side.

So this may have been a fault of my own, but I can't really tell since it's been a while since I installed the game.

What is the default control for Move camera (hold)? Mine is set to Right Click, which I may have inadvertently set a long while back. Also, when I click restore defaults, it doesn't actually restore to the default key mappings, just to whatever changes I've made with the window open. So I can't see if I actually changed it on accident or not.

Ignore the part about the restore defaults, it did actually set it back to defaults. The big issue there is that it didn't ask for confirmation afterward, I can open another ticket for that if needed.

So right click (hold) is set to move camera, and right click is also set to clear designation, and ctrl+left click. Right clicking and holding, will clear multiple designations if you are hovering over one and right clicking. The issue is that the Right click (hold) does not move the camera while in dumping/mining setting mode. This works perfectly fine when there isn't much going on in the game, like at the start, but it appears that as the game gets busier it is causing an issue. It will often skip and jump around when trying to clear a large area when the game is busy.

I just tested this a lot in a new game, where it worked 100% of the time clearing a large area when right clicking and holding. I tested on one of my other games that is quite far along, and trying the same thing will sometimes clear some area, but the majority of the time it just exits the clicking mode after moving the mouse a little bit. Maybe getting rid of the right click and hold option when in planning mode for dumping and mining. If you are in either of those modes, you can right click and it will give the icon to clear and you can drag.
