PC freeze and restart a minute after loading save

Issue description

I played my first save, didnt get too far, saved it, came back to it sometime later. and it was fine. then played more saved again. probably got up to the point of construction material 2.

After starting the game, clicking continue and loading my save. about a minute passes and my pc freezes. it seems the music takes a little bit longer to cut out.
When i hit the power button the pc shuts down no worries, although what is on the screen never changes during the shutting down.
It did this 4 times without fail.

I started a new save, pretty much the exact same story, except i hadnt quite got to the point of construction 2.
twice in a row, a minute after loading in the save, pc freezes and wait a bit and it restarts itself.

Identical issue. Running on Linux flawlessly for many hours into a save, until a random point into the game wherein something locks up hard. Once a lockup happens, running that save is thereafter a ticking time bomb - both via loading an autosave or a manual save. Length of time before lockup happens is random, but it will happen. This has happened 3 times in different game campaigns.

When the lockup happens, the screen freezes but the music keeps playing, then the window manager fails and the linux kernel goes to console. At the console the system is useless, as messages suggest a drive IO failure. Of further interest, the log file associated with the game load terminates mid-line. I know it is not the drive, as it happens both with the game and OS installed to a good SSD, and when both installed to a multiple-redundancy ZFS array.

Load the attached save file and tinker until it locks up.

This is most likely hardware or driver issue. Game can't freeze your computer like that. Could be also issue in the Linux emulator.

A computer that freezes and restarts like this points at hardware or drivers, since the game cannot freeze a whole computer on its own. If it still happens on the latest version, please open a new report here.
