Game Causing My PC to Restart Sometimes When Loading Save

Issue description

Like the title says, sometimes (not every time) the game causes my PC to restart when loading a save. Its all been for the same factory on Armageddon, but has happened with 3 different save files with 2 of them being autosaves and 1 of them being a manual save.

What happens is I load a save or press continue from the main menu. During the loading screen I see the cursor turn into a spinny wheel indicating that the game has stopped responding. Then I see the RGB on my keyboard go out for a second, screen goes black, and a few seconds later I am at the Windows login screen. When I relaunch the game and try to load the same save, sometimes my PC restarts again and sometimes it loads successfully.

Never had any stability or technical issues with this PC in the 3 years that I have had it, and never had any issues with Captain of Industry prior to Update 2 although its been a while since I played. Most recently this happened tonight. The earlier log I attached is when my PC restarted while loading the game. The later log is when the same save loaded successfully. That save is also attached.

Reproduction steps

1. Load attached save
2. Game stops responding while loading save
3. Keyboard RGB turns off for a second, screen goes black briefly before the Windows login screen appears

Thanks for your report. The game can't really crash your computer. This is typically due to driver or hardware issues or unstable systems due to overclocking.

Game loading is very CPU intense as we are generating map on multiple cores. I would recommend checking if your CPU is not overheating or RAMs maybe being unstable if overclocked. Sometimes removing dust can help if things like this occur after several years.

A computer restarting while a save loads points at hardware, drivers or an unstable overclock rather than the game: loading works every CPU core hard, which exposes an overheating CPU or unstable RAM. The Windows Event Viewer records the reason for each restart. If it still happens on the latest version, please open a new report here.
