Reproduction steps
I don't know that this is a reliable way to reproduce, but here's what I did (starting at the very beginning)
- Right-click Steam icon in system tray. In list of recent games, CoI shows as blue because an update is needed.
- Click "Captain of Industry [canary3-private]".
- Steam updates CoI (shown in a little window of its own) before launching the game.
- Game starts up to main menu.
- Click Continue button to load save ("blarg"). Loading screen, but the progress bar doesn't progress much.
- Error happens.
- Load a previous auto-save, same error.
- Quit CoI.
- Start CoI (same way, via system tray Steam icon context menu).
- Click Continue.
- Save loads normally.
