Expired Player setup

Issue description

Since Update 3 Captain Of Industry experiences multiple Crash To Desktop's, it doesnt matter if I am playing the game or it is on pause, the game just crashes to Desktop at random times. With patch update 7.02 the game now crashes to desktop on loading the main menu, requiring a number of attempts to start the game..

I am using Windows 12, with the latest Geforce RTX graphic drivers. I should not be getting these CTD's.

My pc spec is:

Computer: 3XS Melius Gaming PC
NVIDIA Geforce RTX 4090 Graphics Card
Intel Core i9-14900KF CPU
64GB DDR4 RAM
6TB SSD total storage space

Reproduction steps

The game crashes at different times, even when on pause.

Game version and build number

v0.7.2a b433

The crash occurs in WaterRendererFft.Disptach ComputeShader

That could be

  • a GPU driver bug handling a particular compute shader
  • an overlay/third-party hook interfering with compute

I would recommend trying to upgrade to stable drivers. You can also try parameters to launch the game in safer mode:
Right-click the game → Properties → Launch Options → paste one line, try in this order:
-force-d3d11 -force-gfx-st
or
-force-vulkan

If it still crashes

  • Open Reliability Monitor → find the crash → note Faulting module (e.g., nvwgf2umx.dll vs UnityPlayer.dll).

The crash happens in the water rendering compute shader, which points at the graphics driver or an overlay hooking into the game. Stable drivers or the launch options -force-d3d11 -force-gfx-st (or -force-vulkan) may avoid it. If it still happens on the latest version, please open a new report here.
