Manually Placed 1x1 Connectors Disappear When Connected Too

Issue description

When manually placing a connector, the first time anything is connected to it, it disappears, forcing you to replace it.

Ideally, when a connector is placed manually, the game should not try to converted it to a simpler form (ie a pipe) on first connection.

Reproduction steps

1. Place a connector of any type.
2. Connect the appropriate type of belt or pipe to the connector.
