Crash to desktop when entering "*" into the search field

Issue description

When I try to calculate something and enter a number and the "*" sign for multiplication the game crashes immediately. I was able to replicate it.

Reproduction steps

I cannot seem to upload my zipped save file. Please advise.

%USERPROFILE%/AppData/Local/Temp/Mafi Games/Captain of Industry/Crashes does not exist on my system.

No one else is experiencing this at this point, I can't reproduce it, and I highly suspect that this is some mod, hardware, or driver issue.

It probably was a weird problem caused by the game crashing. It happened after I restarted it.
Everything was okay again, after I restarted the computer.
