connectors cannot be placed next to each other in certain cases

in the patch notes for 0.7.9, it says that connectors can now be placed next to each other. however, I notice certain cases where that is not the case. here is one I just noticed (there may be others though):

lay out two pipes next to each other and put a connector in one of them, like this:

now try to copy the connector and put it in the pipe directly next to it (doesn't work):

another one is where I try to connect to a machine that has a pipe connector near it like this:

btw, the workaround for this is to simply delete the ghost pipe where you want to put the connector, and then copy and paste the connector in
