Building General Priorities Silently Revert to Default, Causing Death Spirals

Issue description

General Priority settings on buildings silently revert to default levels (10) under certain conditions, despite patch notes claiming this bug was fixed in v0.7.9. This has occurred repeatedly across multiple game sessions on version 0.8.2 C, even without power outages, resulting in cascading failures and colony death spirals.

Reproduction steps

Detailed Description

The game features two distinct priority systems, clearly illustrated when examining a building under construction, such as a Distillation Stage 2:

General Priority (top right of dialog): A numerical setting from 1 (highest) to 15 (lowest). Controls worker assignment, electricity, maintenance, Unity consumption, AND determines priority for product delivery and removal when using trucks.

Construction Priority: A separate setting for delivery of materials needed for construction.

After construction completes, the General Priority remains. A newly placed Distillation Stage 2 defaults to 10.
Observed Behavior

Despite the official v0.7.9 patch notes stating:

"Fixed that train stations would reset their priority to the highest one after load, if they were allowed to run without power, overriding the player's setting"

The issue continues to occur on version 0.8.2 C (b559), a substantially later release. Key observations:

Priorities have reset across multiple factory modules on different occasions

Most recently occurred with no power outage preceding the reset

Settings revert specifically to default level 10

The reset appears silent—no notification or warning that priorities have changed

Supporting Evidence

The official wiki documents that the game does have mechanics that reset priorities under specific conditions. On the U-shape Balancer page, it states:

"Enforcing strictly even inputs/outputs resets any priorities set for the ports."

While this references balancer port priorities rather than building General Priorities, it confirms the game engine contains logic that can reset priority settings. The wiki does not document similar reset mechanics for building General Priorities, suggesting this may be an undocumented bug.

The v0.4.9 patch notes (referenced above) confirm the game engine has a known behavior of resetting priorities to default when buildings experience power outages. My colony has experienced power and water shortages, making it plausible that refinery buildings lost power at some point, triggering a reset.

However, the most recent occurrence happened without any power outage, indicating either:

The bug has additional triggers beyond power loss

The original fix was incomplete

A new bug with similar symptoms has emerged in v0.8.2 C

Attempts to Resolve

Community Support – Sought assistance on forums. Received dismissive and unhelpful responses, including claims that priority settings should not be used at all. Deleted the post.

Developer Reporting – Previously reported this and other issues, including suggestions for improvements. Never received any response or acknowledgment.

Manual Workarounds – On three separate occasions, have systematically checked and reset the General Priority for every factory manufacturing item in use across the colony.

Request

I should probably print this and flush it down the toilet instead of reporting it. But I will report this one last time.

Acknowledgment that this issue is known and being investigated

Confirmation of whether this is a regression of the previously patched bug

Any temporary workarounds that might prevent priority resets

Consideration of a "Global Priority Reset" feature as requested by other players

A reply or acknowledgment would be appreciated.
