Game Crashing on longer plays (+2hs), specially when auto-saving

Issue description

The behavior has increasing the frequency as I progress through late game.
I'm not on ultra late game (10k pop, 230 trucks, using a few trains for long distances), so I'm worried of how bad it can get.

I've seen a few "out of memory" errors, but the EXE was using only 7GB, while I have 64GB on the machine, other times it crashes without any warnings, and the analyzecrash.exe crashes.

Crashes happened on multiple occasions, no specific action is triggering it afaik.

First time reporting issues here, but I'm from IT, so feel free to ask for additional info.

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D (3.40 GHz)
RAM 32,0 GB (3600mhz)
Windows 11 Pro 25H2
RTX 4070ti 12GB

Reproduction steps

Load save
let it run for a few hours
Game will start to crash (unfortunately I don't have a specific behavior to reproduce the crash).

Game version and build number

v0.8.2c (b559)

Operating system

It's not letting me upload the zipped save (30MB), so I've uploaded it to Google Drive:

Did you by any chance disable the swap file completely?

No, it's manually set to be between 4-8GB.

However, I was playing Where Winds Meet and got a crash.
Inspecting eventviewer I saw an OOM.

Searching for the event, it seems this has been the reason for all my crashes on COI, now that the same happened on another game I believe it's mainly a problem on my Windows installation.

  1. Set Custom size:
    Initial: 16384 MB (16GB)
    Maximum: 32768 MB (32GB)
  2. Disable Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling (HAGS)
Go to Settings > System > Display > Graphics > Change default graphics settings.
Toggle Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling to OFF.
  3. The log shows a failure to switch to "Exclusive Fullscreen" during high memory load.
Find the file CaptainOfIndustry.exe in the folder with the game.
    Right-click -> Properties -> Compatibility tab.
Check the box "Disable full-screen optimizations".
In the game settings set Display Mode to Windowed Borderless.
Limit FPS to 60 in the NVIDIA Control Panel or game settings to prevent the GPU from "bursting" memory requests.
  4. Clear DirectX Shader Cache: Open "Disk Cleanup" > Select C: > Check "DirectX Shader Cache" > OK.
    Restart your PC.
If it doesn't help, switch to Studio Drivers: install the NVIDIA Studio Driver instead of the Game Ready driver. It's more stable for long-running Unity 6 applications.
