Issue description

Hi MaFi Devs,

First time this happened to me with your absolutely great game.

I was just some minutes into my session today till the first auto save i think. While unpausing and unity clearing some Storages my game crashed.

Hope my gathered informations can help you finding an issue if ther is one that can solve problems for all players.

Best Regards and keep up the great Work.

Reproduction steps

I was just clearing some level 4 wood storages as the game went into auto save while unpausing several level 4 storages and it crashed.
No clear clue what exactly happend.
This save or the game in generall is getting slower as i progress.
It is my "biggest" save so far with over 3500 years in on apocalypse map.
Maybe i need to take some settings a little bit back on my system. maybe the load gets a little bit too much. Playing on a Intel 12th Gen i9-12900 with a standard Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 8GB on 32gb DDR 5 RAM.
My System should be fully up to date from what i know.
I've attached the crashed auto save temp and the logs as i found them.
I couldn't attach the main save file with its 67MB here.
I also couldn't find any crash files.
Hope the gathered informations can help.

Thx for your great game end Work on further evolving it.

If i can help out with further information let me know. i'll do my best to help out

You should attach log files from these folders:
%AppData%\Captain of Industry\Logs
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Mafi Games\Captain of Industry
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Temp\Mafi Games\Captain of Industry\Crashes

Hello poltime,

Thx for your reply.

I was only able to find some more files under: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Mafi Games\Captain of Industry
Player.log, Player-prev.log

Here is also a complete zip of all Logs from: %AppData%\Roaming\Captain of Industry\Logs
26-06-02_21-07-27_8935.log, 26-06-03_21-44-55_4783.log, 26-06-04_23-14-53_6213.log, 26-06-05_23-05-02_7142.log, 26-06-06_23-04-56_1607.log, 26-06-06_23-21-43_8867.log

Under : %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Temp\ are no folders called Mafi Games or similar.

Hope the provided Information helps.

Regards

Your crash was caused by a critical processing spike on your CPU and RAM at the exact moment of the autosave. An "Apocalypse" map with over 3,500 years of progress represents an extreme factory scale. At this stage, millions of active entities, logistic paths, and vehicle routes are constantly held in your memory. When you unpaused several level 4 storages simultaneously, it triggered a massive, instant recalculation of thousands of truck and conveyor routes. Because the autosave kicked in at that exact second, the game engine simply choked on the data volume, failed to process the operation queue in time, and crashed. Your i9-12900 and 32GB DDR5 RAM are excellent components, but Captain of Industry hits system architecture limitations at this endgame scale: CPU Single-Core Bottleneck: Despite your i9-12900 having 16 cores, simulation games in Unity rely heavily on the speed of a single master core for logic calculations. At year 3,500, calculating truck pathfinding overloads even top-tier chips. State Change + Saving Conflict: Unpausing a massive structure forces the game to rebuild global logistics graphs. Running an autosave at the same instant dumps a huge memory cache to your drive. This creates a micro-freeze, which Windows or Unity flags as an unresponsive program, forcing a crash. Before mass-unpausing or starting massive construction, manually save via the Esc menu. This forces a clean pause and safely writes the file. Optimize logistics and vehicles: Limit the total number of trucks. Replace long-haul vehicle routes with conveyor belts and pipes. Conveyor logic is exponentially lighter on the CPU than truck pathfinding AI. Avoid unpausing, deleting, or assigning tasks to dozens of storages and factories all at once. Do it in smaller batches.

Hello poltime,

thx for your analysis and great explenation.

Had a feeling it maybe cause by something like that. Started cleaning up. found a lot of copy paste related false routes accross the map and way to much dumping tower assignments. On top of that im currently moving the main factory. So house made total overload on my cpu.

Glad it turns out only a humen error and nothing more.

Thx again for your time and effort and the further tipps and tricks. just on my way to trains and learning how the for me kind of new zones work and also helps reducing the loads on the cpu. WIll figue it out and hope for another 3500 Years on the Map.

Regards
