Network trains fail to load cargo for new jobs at current station.

Issue description

When a network train completes a job and is given a new job originating at it's current station, it may fail to load any cargo and proceed to it's destination anyway.

Reproduction steps

  1. Create a simple 2 station network, with each station both loading and unloading cargo.
  2. Add trains to network capable of transporting both cargo types.
  3. Monitor a train as it unloads at a station, receives a new job to load at that station, and leaves empty.

Attached a sandbox save with an example setup based on the network from which I noticed the issue. Train no.1 unloads cargo and then receives a job that it does without loading cargo.

see that in my game also often (Sep.21 2026).
In my case the train finished unload and get a order on the same station (behind him).
Skipped first waypoint (loading on the current station) and drives to the unload waypoint (empty run).
I am using long train stations with a large mix of load/unload points, so I see that issue often.
Still in the game with v0.8.7c (b617)

I hit the problem and play around with several setups in sandbox. The goal is to unload one kind of cargo, then load another kind of cargo between two stations mixed of load & unload.

It seems a wagon is supposed to load or unload during a stop, not both. It's possible to unload & load with a single wagon, but you need to plan the train to leave the station once via a waypoint, then go back to load. It's terriable for the network setups since you can't do the trick above, and the trains keep running empty.

Currently a workaround would be avoiding mixed stations for the networks, or split them into dedicated loading and unloading stations.

In my actual game, I started to use network by an experiment on an aluminium factory. It was a badly mixed station with all inputs and outputs for the factory. It worked well at the beginning, trains brought every input material to the factory. Late, the factory got some production and things started to go wrong. Just like others described, a train finishes unloading and gets another task to load at the same station, but it is unable to load anything and leaves the station with empty wagons, and keeps doing this at the next station. This makes the logistics completely stalled.

Now I split the station into two by grouping loading and unloading. The network finally works.
