Even if blueprint stores transportation settings properly in chain/linked storages, once they are built, these settings disappear (as you can see on he provided screenshots).

This is most likely because of the game
is forcibly prohibiting exporting on non-last chained storage units &
is forcibly prohibiting importing on non-first chained storage units,
which was added quite a while ago as an intended feature.
And the request export above certain capacity setting
is incompatible with exporting being disabled, so it get's un-set.
Why would you want to force export from the beginning of chained containers anyway? Is it that you are building them with great delays between them being built?
Because first storage in line is offload, to ensure that factory won't stop and always have room for new slag and rest are keeping material - so other facilities can use it, when needed.
Hrm. So you aren't exporting from the final container, you are instead belting it to be used? This is an interesting scenario. I'm still learning a lot.
For me, for byproducts, all containers after first - are the storage. And first is kind of safeguard with forced unload to ensure that there is always free space for fresh byproduct.
Is there a reason you started doing that instead of exporting from the last container in the chain? IE what benefit does doing it this way provide? Not trying to grill you or downplay your use case, just legitimately curious.
Honestly there is a simple (all be it not that convenient) way to do this.
Just insert a row of connectors in between the storages.
This is going to transfer resources very fast between the 2 storages,
while making sure that it won't clear the settings.
I mean, it does need an extra tile of space, but at least you can blueprint this,
without breaking those settings every time you place the blueprint down,

Was doing this since the very first day of playing the COI.
No free space in this block - nowhere to shove it.
This setup with 3 storages looks like very elegant way to do something like this. Right?

This is my design - everything within square. Anything outside the square is no longer elegant =_=

Anyway, for now I just manually adjust the offload part.
