Is it possible that the distance to fuel stations is only calculated as the crow flies? Trucks often drive long distances around mountains, even though other fuel stations are closer. Can't this be calculated in advance using pathfinding? Or would it be possible to set zones for fuel stations? Furthermore, it would make sense if fuel stations assigned to a mining tower only accepted trucks from that tower.
Fuel Station: Path finding
Honestly I think Fuel Station trucks are just broken at the moemnt. I have a fuel station right next to my coal mine with a tuck sitting idle, but a truck from a fuel station across the map drove all the way over to fuel an excavator in the coal pit
@davew123 [discord] - that could be logistics related - the station where the truck came from (which might be a coy of the one you think should deliver the fuel) could be set to export to the MCT the excavator belongs to - check the MCT assignments (and if it's set to "only from assigned" or not, if it has any import assignments)
could also be this error: Trucks Failing to Refuel at Fuel Stations
"Disable logistics for newly placed buildings & machines" isn't enabled and there are no logistics set on the fuel stations. I've just always assumed they will refuel vehicles that are close to them. In this case the fuel station the truck came from is over by my tree cutters so I don't even think I can use logistics on them
