Ore Sorters ignoring "Assigned only" setting

A non-assigned truck will pick up ore/dirt/rock from an ore sorter and deliver to a storage (with input on) despite the ore sorter being set to "assigned only". This causes a bunch of ore to stack up in the dock as by the time the truck gets to the storage, it can be full so rejects the shipment and/or a bunch of undesired truck traffic. This happens with storage set to "fill" or just "input on". Only way to stop is to turn off input on the storages but this has its own issues as now you can only use belts to feed the storage.

Not sure I follow, "Assigned only" on ore sorter restricts imports not exports

It used to stop both exports and imports...so you would attach 2 storages . One for input (assigned to tower) and 2nd for output (attached to first storage)

now, if for example, I want to request ore to a storage, (sitting in dock or from a storage) but it takes from the ore sorter instead...

also sorter seems to be highest priority to pull from. We need a way to lock down the ore sitting in the sorter...otherwise logistics gets crazy as you have no way to control the ore sorter contents. Storages can have export turned off, how do we turn off export from sorter now (and its priority)?

So in my case, I had a loop where trucks would pull from the sorter and start the long journey to the partly empty request storage....which was also attached to belts. By the time the truck got there, belts had filled the storage so the trucks would dump in the dock. Then repeat as trucks would get more ore from the sorter if the storage dropped back down again....How do I stop trucks from accessing a sorter (there is no export on/off, no user settable priority). (The ore was also sitting in a supply storage and is where I wanted to pull from as needed when the belts were empty.)

In general sorter should have its outputs belted into storage units and these should be configured properly. Adding all the bells and whistles into ore sorter would complicate it quite a bit

yes, the sorter is connected as you state but assuming you are over-mining ore (desired state), ore will backup in the sorter which then starts to export uncontrollably out.

The point was to have the belts/storages managing this and not have the sorter inself become the dominate export out.

You can turn off the truck export from the sorters, same way that you do from storages.
