Alarms are slow to update

it can take multiple months for alarms to update
one of examples is on the screenshot, it was long time ago since soybean went <75% and yet alarm says it is over the threshold

another example
sulfur gets to this storage only from this 3 machines
you can do the math to understand how slow it is

I’ve seen this too. I thought it was some kind of threshold buffer.

it is possible that this applies to alarms that check if value is lower than X, aka <

maybe devs made some check to ensure that alarms are not flickering often, but added way too long delay between checks

Iirc, there was some hysteresis added long time ago, some 5% or so. Ofc, for big storages, those are over 100.
And it does not work well, full storages with running belt in and belt out keep flickering the 100% alarm ...

As in changes of less than the mentioned 5% aren't registered as actual changes.
Only if the changes cumulatively exceede that 5% would trigger something.

That’s around the buffer I’ve seen, yeah.

Though I feel the buffer is smaller for the large storages, relative to the small ones anyway, the small storages are pretty sensitive to large/quick changes.

And yea I coulda googled.

I just looked in the code & there's a variable defined as: private static readonly Percent Mafi::Core::Buildings::Storages::Storage.NOTIFICATION_HYSTERESIS = Percent.FromPercentVal(5);so yeah, it is set to 5%. And as you can see, it's not really overwritable at all (without modifying the SimUpdateInternal method).

It is common to all storage variants, including the NuclearWasteStorage.

Maybe it’s just that I’m using the larger storages for places where the mk2 small is too sensitive to be used as a sensor. Wish there was a storage between the two.

Not that I'm recommending mods, but COI-Storage+ or what ever it is called has the capability to set custom storage amounts. Most use to make them really big, but It could work for your purpose as well!
