trucks assigned to storage randomly wander off and do deconstruction jobs

I'll post a series of pictures illustrating the problem. I think something is rather wrong with how serious trucks assigned to storage bins are taking their assignments.

I would like to start with showing how my setup is.

in the picture you can see I have two storage bins requesting trash and each has a route where to get trash. the requesting bins have one T3 truck assigned each. in addition, the bin that needs emptying is pushing the trash towards the logistics network. priorities are set to highest possible.

in this picture top right you can see one of the trucks assigned to the requesting bin. bottom left is the bin the truck's route leads to. however as you can see at the green direction, the truck has no intention of going there of waiting at it's assigned bin for more space....

... instead it is wondering off to do deconstruction work.

the priorities are not an issue. they are clearly encouraging the truck to haul on the assigned route instead of doing construction work.

Does it do that the entire time or is it just a one off thing? Just wondering if the truck was assigned a job, but didnt drop it, when you assigned it to the storage.

the trucks have been assigned in this configeruation nearly 130 years. before they where assigned to the bin pushing the trash and did the exact same thing. I had a few other setups around the base showing the same behavior. by now I have replaced those with trains. the one I use for demonstration is rather tricky to realize with a train, so I am relying on trucks still.

Might need to upload the save, so the devs can take a closer look.

not a problem at all. more than happy to help! I will do so as soon as a dev is requesting the save.

I hope this can be identified as not-intended behavior and fixed. I know you could solve this with a logistic zone. to be entirely honest though I hate logistics zones. they are clunky at best and if you want to connect the two storage bins over a bigger distance, you need to fiddle with the zones to not accidentally include any other building - which sometimes is not avoidable and causes a whole new bunch of issues.

Logistic routes ignore logistic zones.

As long as you link the containers, (I think that) trucks
from either zone will handle the logistics for a given route.

maybe I expressed myself poorly:
I am not working with logistics zones at all. I was debating whether I should replace the routes with a zone to make sure the trucks stay where they are supposed to be until this (presumable) bug is fixed.

As long as the given vehicle is supplying to / fetching from a de-/construction target,
that matches the storege's settings (like remove deconstruct material that fits into it),
then it's intended behaviour; but if those vehicles start de-/constructing things
using materials not from/to the assigned storage or against the storage's settings
(like pulling resources when below the green slider or storing resources above the red slider),
that would almost certainly be a bug (well at least that's how I'd label that behaviour).

TLDR: I think that "assigned" vehicles aren't intended to be restricted
to just doing resource hauling jobs, but rather they are ment to do any job
that they can, but as long as it concerns the linked building in some capacity.

I understand your point (now) and I do agree. In the shown case however, the dump trucks are not concerned with any other materials than trash and the only source of trash on my current map is one and only one storage bin (the one their routes are linked to)

Yet, they go and haul gravel from a deconstruction site to (in this case) the ship yard or a construction site.
