Stutter when scrolling with VSync or VSync x2 settings

Fixed Graphics Performance

No issue at all when limiting to a number of frames per second, or not limiting; only happens with both VSync settings. In the attached clip, I scrolled by holding up and right for a couple seconds.

This is on an RTX 5070 Ti, nvidia driver version 591.59. Will try updating and report back if it still happens.

Yeah still happens on latest drivers too (591.89). Also possibly relevant, this is on a G-Sync enabled 165Hz monitor. I can still see it if I turn off G-Sync, it just not as severe.

Either way, not super important, turning off VSync is a quick fix..

Hello, do you still have this map? can you share the save?

This has gotten way better in b564, you could even call it fixed. When zooming out with vsync on until I get <30 fps and scrolling left right over the settlement it's still slightly choppy but nothing compared to the video. Still on 591.86; I must have typo it back in Feb!

a couple but not a crazy amount

See linked message, it's the same play through and I haven't refactored much. I don't know unfortunately which exact save game I made the video in.

It was probably coming from loose storages\stations. We are doing another pass to reduce the problem even more in the next patch.

Generally speaking, V-Sync in any game will increase simulation error (variation in time between frames). While it removes tearing, it comes with the risk of increasing perceived stuttering. There was a game bug in this case, which made it a whole lot worse, but even games working perfectly can end up doing this due to how V-sync works technically. Just something to keep in mind. It's one of those hidden tradeoffs like anti-aliasing hurting frame time stability and input lag. No I'm not saying never use those features. They do have impact on graphical quality, but it is something to keep in mind when stuttering becomes an issue.
