Thermal Storage not filling up despite pipes being full and reactor jammed.

This probably affects few people, but for the ones that it does, it can trigger a nuclear meltdown. I use the Thermal Storage to measure HSteam consumption and adjust the reactor's power level accordingly. This prevented the Thermal Storage's alerts from triggering despite the fact that HSteam was already backing up in the reactor.

It's probably because it needs for there to be enough room to fit an
additional entire "recipe's"-worth of heat in the buffer at the same time.

This "recipe" might operate on smaller values than 600 steam at a time,
but it must have some pre-defined amount that it works on, and that is what I'm talking about.

Okay, well I guess that is an issue unique to this building, which is both a "storage" with alerts and a "production building" with recipes. This is still a problem tho, and if that is the cause then I assume it won't be hard to fix - just gotta lower the trigger threshold of the 100% alert by 600 units, right?

That would be 1 way to do this, yes.

Another one (although probably worse if I'm honest) would be to allow dynamic
"recipe" scaling for just this type of building, basicaly instead of always working
with 600 units, have it support working with smaller amounts (as long as
they're cleanly divisible at least); the reason as to why this could be worse
is that this would mean that it could do it's work more often when maxed-out
like this & could lead to a tiny, but a performance hit.

Ok, after looking into the code, this particular recipe is in fact
converting 1 unit of Steam at a time, but in return it produces
18 units of Heat, which there is simply not enough room
to fit in the available space in the buffer (59'988 + 18 == 60'006 > 60'000).

Basically doing Mafi’s job for free lol. Thanks for your contribution man, and this is the benefit of making a game people actually like.

with reactors to prevent meltdowns, your steam turbines turn off the auto balance, and never pause them unless you have ajusted the power slider in your reactor.
The reactor will output no matter what based on your power level slider setting. If steam backs up turn it back or add more turbines.

The whole point of the Thermal Storage in that setup is to so I can run variable load turbines even with a non-APR reactor, and allow short term overdraw of HSteam from the system when needed.

The problem isn’t that I can’t do things differently, it’s that this method should work if the game functioned as intended but now has the potential to trigger a meltdown or at least unwarned HSteam/coolant waste due to this bug.

Well, I did think of something that uses this building, for which I needed
this information, so I might as well post it here as well anyways:

THis game does works as intended. Set reactor stream production, YOU GET just that. non stop all the time.
Your the one who is adding a "buffer" of sorts and creating the issue. the Reactor 1 is working as intended. The Reactor 2 is what you want for yoru setup. but that alo needs flops

The Reactor I is not a problem, and currently does no less than what I need it too in my setup.

The Thermal Storage's alert system is not functioning as intended. It should not stop accepting HSteam before trigging an alert, which it is currently doing. What I'm doing is not an exploit. It may not be necessary, or common for players to attempt, but it is within what should be possible if all underlying components are working as by design - one of which is not.
