It seems when a lab is switching on/off (due to inconsistent supply) it charges its unity cost each time it switches on
Idk if this is intended behaviour as I would have assumed it should be charged once a month?
Research Labs charging extra unity
FYI, can see this behaviour occuring by manually pausing and unpausing labs
this also happens when unity boosting a building over and over -- maybe the unity cost can be amortized per day/hour/tick
Yeah, anything with a monthly Unity cost debits a full month’s cost on the 1st of each month, and there are no refunds for unboosting/pausing.
Consequently, pausing/unboosting is preferentially done on the 30th of the month.
I felt this when my power was fluctuating. Lost about 40 unity in under a month, instead of the 0.6 it should have been.
Yeah. I get that paying up front every time is probably to limit exploit, so you can't just pause everything right before payment.
But payment should be for the entire month, regardless of how many times pausing or other interruptions happens.
Upgraded my nuclear power recently, which means my old coal power was running, causing a lot of power fluctuations.
Can you spot when?

i am also experiencing this bug
research labs take unity multiple times if they stop and restart working
