Fuel Station delivery Bugs

I created a fuel station, with fuel and an assigned truck. Two of my excavators are completely empty on fuel, but the trucks fail to deliver. The trucks show that they can pathfind to the excavator.

I tried assigning the trucks to specific mining towers or to small excavators and neither solution works.

What breaks the bug free is manually moving the excavators out slightly. Then the refueling trucks snap into normal mode and begin working again. (although they seem to deliver to other excavators other than the assigned mining towers... not sure if that is a second bug).

The problem obviously fixed itself when you set up routes. Did the mining towers have the ’Accept only’ option ticked on their routes?

The problem doesn't fix itself when I set routes (it doesnt matter if its accept only or not). I set routes and then it stayed idle. After I set routes I then moved one of the excavators which was what fixed it.

In fact the bug is reproducible with the save file without doing any assigned routes. If the first thing you do is move the excavator it'll fix the bug.

I also troubleshooted this a little more. You can also fix the bug by unassigning the broken excavator and then immediately reassigning it. Something is just triggering where the fuel station can't see the excavator.

If I had to guess what caused the bug to start was I had a fuel station with no fuel (because I didn't know I needed to hook it up to a pipe - I thought I could use truck deliveries to it) that might have had a truck assigned to refuel those excavators. I then destroyed that fuel station and rebuilt it properly but I think when I destroyed the old fuel station it never cleared out the assignment.

yeah, it's kind of stupid that you can't deliver fuel to a fuel station using a big truck

I always place a station with a small tank and route the tank to feed the station, but the fuel truck is bugged, it gets stuck preparing for navigation. moving it manually even one pixel resets it and it refills at station and goes off to work, for a bit.
