Trucks not obeying priority

When you load this save, you will find the camera centered on a loose storage with priority 14 to empty. Trucks are emptying this storage, but they are mostly ignoring the priority 10 job (which has large alerts for the pick up and drop off storages). Basically, they are doing a priority 14 job over a priority 10 job. I've tagged this as severe/game breaking because if priorities aren't followed it really is game breaking. I like to use a lot of p14 and p15 jobs to keep my trucks extremely busy but with some of my unit storages this bug has been happening.

I don't know why the alert for one of the storages seems to instantly de select itself when the game loads, but it is visible in the alerts until you unpause the game.

Haven't tried the save, but are your trucks overworked? I've noticed over several big updates now that when truckes gets heavily overworked, the priority system seems to half break. Outputs gets grioritized over Inputs, then the level of priority gets applied, so a prio 15 Output gets served before a prio 4 Input.

In theory this could have been in since launch. I just only see it if my trucks are heavily overworked.

well yeah, i figured i could put really unimportant jobs as p14 and they would only get done if other things all did, but it seems that's not true? thanks for the hint, I will drag the steel storage to empty

That's an interesting insight!

Still feels broken.
Maybe outputs and inputs would need separate prios (not good to make more complex). So with just one prio, I'd think it should apply symmetrically to both, inputs and outputs (and electricity & workers).

when you load the save you will notice the steel storage that has an alert for high is full and the one with an alert for low is empty and the trucks are preferring emptying the rock storage over moving the steel. Some steel gets moved but it's not much and the trucks keep doing the rock. I believe I explained in the post? One of the alerts goes away as soon as the game is unpaused.

I mean, that how it's supposed to work. And it does, even if the trucks are overworked for a long time. It's just that there seems to be a magical limit somewhere, and if the workload cross that boundry things break.

I do not have a savegame at hand, but yes. I remember shaking my head more than once. How trucks were prioritizung dumping from e.g. the prio 10 ore sorter, instead of keeping the prio 7 assemblies busy.

Add-on: I think I also observed the problem the other way around (not so sure, been a while). The ore-sorter being full, while prio 11-14 storages elsewhere got emptied by trucks.

It's been a long time since i tested this, but i've observed it in all but the latest big update. My first clue back then was when power shut down due to not getting any coal. That's a Prio 4 Input, the only this that should have competed with it was maintenance, which was also running out.

This was on the first iteration of Curland, and i was filling the middle lake, so litterally moving a mountaig. The Tier 4 storages the miner were filling were Prio 15 Output. They were hogging any truck not doing another Output job.

Pause anything so the Prio 15 Output storage did not get serviced, and things would go back to normal. Get it running again, and things would work for a while, and then return to broken, presumably as the job que filled up.

This was pretty brutal with the old vehicle limits, but now i can just build more trucks instead, so mitigating the problem.

I don't know at what level of overwork things break, i have no way to really judge that, but it's way past the game telling you the trucks are overworked.
