Stacker tower sometimes builds extensions before finishing current area

It seems stacker towers will build out a new extension before completing the current area at times. I've seen this behavior twice now in this same area - in both cases it built the extension in shallow water that should have been filled in; this was the more extreme example, the first one was more just a ~4x4 puddle that was left. 0.8.3a (b578).

Here's how it looks when it finishes - can see the puddle that gets left behind. If you remove the extensions it will fill that in.

i know when you pre-build the extensions they will prioritise filling one side fully first, and then rotate and fill the other side, might be that its doing that after detecting the existing limestone in range?

or possibly its because the limestone is above its height fill limit and giving it unintended behavior

In this case it was quite close to the limestone, but the prior case was well before it - I think it's just where the ground is close enough the supports can still be placed it sometimes is jumping ahead.

this started happening to me well. not a problem with rock, but happens consistently with dirt

also because of this, started getting collapse warnings on the new extensions

it appears to be because the extension is being planned automatically earlier than it should be

Hmm guessing you're seeing it with dirt because of the shallower angle of repose - so you end up with shallower water ahead similar to what I was seeing even with rock being dumped when it was reaching a landmass and placing it in the shallows.

All it should really need is a check that dumping is fully complete before it places the extension.

It needs to check that dumping is complete under where the extension sits - if it waits for full completion, then you end up with long periods of low throughput as it tops up the sides of the piles where they have settled…

agreed - but that seems to be how it works currently, at least for level dumps

well this new extension has two problems

image.jpg

one it's being placed well before that tower is finished with its dumping, like a lot before

and that terrain modification is causing the blueprint to have terrain support issues

because its so early

unintended marshland creation

is it specifically with dumping over water at +1 elevation?
