that is because the connector splits the conveyor into two which are not properly supported and so cant be copied. You'll have to play around with the supports for the copy to work. This is like how floating conveyors can exist but cant be copied.

well they can but they create supports and if the supports cant be generated they fail
Like for example I'm not able to copy this.

That should be an example of how to do it with the constraints of how connectors and pillars work
Not to negate your bug report, just suggesting a quick work around
true but i do not get any warning or error message with supports and also have them in the proper place when building. Only the copy/bps fail!.
thanks that works! good idea!
and i am not sure the reason is the pillars... in this picture you can see that it is fully supported. No illegal pillaring here but still copying does not work

but yeah the whole logic of connector splits the conveyor might makes sense but then it shouldn't be able to place it in the first place or give a warning
So i just woke up and Ive looked at it a little more, placing the connector after the conveyor split the conveyor into two segments where one of them is too long, which the game kinda frowns on. The game does not delete existing segments when the pillars are not valid, only blocks copying. It would be nice to have a warning when copying though. Its just a weird thing about how transports work. Or it would be nice if connectors didnt break up a transport for the purposes of support calculations. That seems like room for improvement for sure. I should play around with this more so i fully understand how connectors interact with it all since it can be useful to know with some builds.
