`also_log_to_console` argument disregarded

also_log_to_console appears as taking an optional boolean argument, but the argument is disregarded. Subsequent calls to also_log_to_console true or also_log_to_console false behave as a toggle.

clue: it's not completely disregarded; if an argument is supplied, it needs to be a proper boolean

How do I find out if also_log_to_console is enabled or disabled, so I can toggle it to the state I want, programatically...?
