Train Depot does not refuel train (save incl.)

This train ran out of fuel and I recovered it to the Depot. The Depot is provided with fuel, but it will neither refuel nor leave the Depot (without fuel to find fuel, like trucks can when empty).

Do I just need to scrap the train? I don't want to leave 2k Crude Oil in there.

I considered using the replacement tool to make a new train while transferring the cargo, but I didn't want to make more wagons (costs parts).

So instead, I scrapped the train and made a new identical one using the stored wagons. I didn't observe the train leaving the station, but the first time I checked the station after the train has left, the Crude is gone (screenshot is what Depot's dialog box looks like).

Did the train pick up the cargo because it knew it was assigned to a Network that could get rid of it?

I don't think I let the game run for long enough for my trucks to empty 2k Crude, and I can't find the Crude anywhere else.

Once you scrap the train its contents are shoved into storages. If it doesn't fit in storages, it's put in the shipyard.
Fluids cannot be put into the shipyard, so if they do not fit into storages, it's deleted.

fluids can be put into the shipyard, Crude ends up in there all the time. Are you sure about this?

Not 100%, it's been my experience though. If you're still close to when it happened you can check your statistics to see if there's a sharp dip

Not sure if in-transit materials are counted though, but I imagine they are

Fluids can definitely end up in the shipyard

Crude Oil and Diesel definitly can, probably also Hydrogen.

Most, however, can not. I don't know if there's a list of it somewhere.

I'm seen fuel gas in my shipyard - I check just now

I think water doesn't
