Different behavior for excavator and retaining wall in mirrored conditions

I am trying to make a channel and use retaining walls for each side, the sides setups are identical and yet the excavator works great on the left (as expected) but it destroys the retaining walls when digging on the right side, the bottom and top levels ar the same on both sides and also the retaining walls are the same level on both sides (from -3 to +2)

save file, just add the amphibious excavator to the tower to reproduce (the excavator is already close by in the channel)

That has to do with water contacting the walls. not sure why only one side is collapsing, unless the sides of the walls are not identical even though they appear to be. May be related to why some times backfilling looks good against them and other times it shows a gap at the wall.

is the left side the same hight ? digging to -3 from +3 is 6 levels which, unsurprisingly causes the walls to collapse. so I'm guessing the left side is actually +2 which is only 5 levels difference and thus the walls hold - can you confirm or deny @cristian.fluture [discord] ?

The last tile at the top of the wall on both sides is sloped down to +2.

Were there any "collape due to uneven terrain" warnings before the walls were destroyed?

both are the same at +2, the grass (dirt) level is at +3 but there is a slope to +2, the same on both sides
