Lifts creates terrain when placed on slopes

So I was planning out some belts down a steep hill and noticed that something was wrong as I tried to move things around. Apparently the lifts elevates the terrain and creates these flat little plateaus when placed as ghosts.
This made me either able or unable to place things where I had previously placed them as the terrain now had changed.
It also messes up ramps if placed there.

people have used this 'feature' with balancers to force flatten terrain in ways that you cannot easily do via terrain designations

Yes, can be very annoying when you plan lifts close to each other on a steep cliff.
I can recommend a small workaround. never place the lift on the sloped ground, but elevate it's bottom by one ... I know that's not how it should work. The supports do not modify the slope, so you can build as planned.

Yeah, managed to work around it, but still kind of annoying having to fix my ramp afterwards.
I see how it might be beneficial in some cases, but I do not think it should work this way.
It also gave me an idea of infinite resources by having a massive slope set to dig and then just placing a blueprint with many of these on top to generate more out of nothing which would be kinda silly.
