Mod issue Severe Saves & Loading
Mr.Ficarazzi Mr.Ficarazzi · 1 month ago

Hi all, after more than 500 hours of vanilla game, i had this impulse to find and find some QoL mods.

Everything went smooth for a couple of days, in and out the game without issues, then today this error blocked me from loading the save.

The game failed to load as the save file is corrupted. If this issue persists, please file a bug report.

Game version: 0.8.7b
Loaded mods: (Multi-Priority Balancers 0.2.1), (Advanced Alerts 0.1.0), (Priority Designations 0.1.2), (Retaining Walls Never Die 1.0.1), (Keybind Framework 2.0.5), (Zone Analyzer 1.4.2), (Tweaks++ 1.3.5)
Failed mods: none

As I get it, there are no contrasting mods here, so this might be something related to the game itself.

The only thing out of the ordinary that I did (as in: I've never done it in other games) is having reached the ocean dump limit on one of the sides... and, well, I finally found courage to create consumer electronics chain.

Can someone help me sort this out or did I lose about 300 hours of game? thanks!

hmmm

it claims no failed mods, so i don't think it's a mod issue. so let me officially welcome you to the club of mod caused instability (work in progress title lmao)

This just happens sometimes, especially if you're running linux/steamOS

2 paths for you:

  1. create a recovery save using an older savefile that'll load to remove the mods
  2. using the new game option, pre-load the mods before loading your save

if you still have problems, let me know. the devs are probably not going to address mod related issues, at least for now, so unfortunately don't expect this to get officially resolved :(

mods worked just fine, I had 2 days hopping on and off without any issues. The last things I did before having this crash were reaching the ocean dump limit and deploying the supply chain for consumer electronics.

Unless I'm missing something, ofc, I can't think of this as a mod related issue.

I love this game, it tickles my autism in all the good ways, but I'm not ready to start anew ç_ç

i guess i should have been more specific

due to the way the game is currently built, modding tends to cause instability within the game. When loading a game, mods/dlc are loaded at the same time as the main game. It causes problems that don't show up when loading from new game since from that path mods are pre-loaded. It's nothing to do with the mods themselves.

it seems to be more common on linux/steamOS, probably due to some sort of wine/proton weirdness. I don't have an answer as to why, i just know it exists because i have to deal with it.

Try pre-loading the mods you want to use through the new game menu, it tends to make things more stable

I take this is a "next time you start" thing rather than a fix to my current situation.

Heh, I take this is an early access and these kind of things tend to happen. I'll probably wait next major update though... perhaps they will have improved the containing walls in the meantime.

Thanks anyways :)
