truck / excavator upgrade instead of scrap

Would let you pick between scraping old excavators / trucks and then rebuilding vs just sending them in for a upgrade.

Whuuuut?.. It is not a fantasy game. In reality it is impossible to turn one machine into the other, so shouldn't be possible ingame either. Buildings is a different thing, but when it comes to vehicles - no.

I was just planing to suggest the same, when i fond this. It's real annoying a specially when you have full stock, to first scrap a vehicle and then wait to for a free spot and then build a new machine.
And why not @Yandersen? In real life you go to the Dealer Sell(Scrap) your old one, and by a new bigger/better one(upgrade) probably at same occasion.
So in this case, Instead of doing all this in several steps, just on button for upgrade.
would give a scenario like this:
Ones truck/excavator are done whit its current work, Drive to vehicle dept and scrap it self, then start build of biggest equivalent machine.
with same cost as new-scraped parts and time as new build + scrap time.

Alternatively I would like for the small excavator to have a distinctly different appearance from the bigger ones... so far I've scrapped some 10 Excavators because I thought they were the small variant... and seeing as a scrap order can't be cancelled -_-

Just came here to post this idea. I want an "upgrade" button the vehicle so I can click it to send it to the depot to upgrade itself.
Ideally, this would also make it keep any routes/assignments it has, as scrapping and building new vehicles loses those.

Agreed. As far as Yandersen's comment; It's not fantasy...it's just an island where power needs no wires to be carried, people can live for months or years on a single food item, and you can magically trade basic items for other basic items without transporting either of them...that's all.

love this idea. having an upgrade option will save time in reassigning newly replaced trucks to towers and buildings

Тогда не улучшить или обновить, а замена на более лучшую технику. Например нужно заменить экскаватор с Т1 на Т2, в автомастерскую заезжает экскаватор, подвозятся недостающие материалы и выезжает уже Т2. С теми же настройками что были и у Т1
