Chance of ship taking damage in unarmed pirate encounter

a chance of your ship sinking or being badly damaged when encountering a pirate without any guns. I'd like to think that some ships are in fact faster than ours and can thus damage it. The pirates don't feel threatening at all since you can get away unharmed, even if you don't have guns.
