Connect smoke stack / flare directly to pipe balancer

I often have setups where something outputs a gas into a balancer, with a priority output into a storage, then an overflow output into a smokestack or flare. Every single time, I automatically put the flare or stack right next to the balancer, and an hour later, wonder why my building is saying 'output full'.
Adding outputs directly off a balancer just feels like it should work, regardless of visual indications.

It would be great if we could connect them directly to anything else, kinda like a pipe. It would make setups more compact
