I've discovered that you can deselect overlays. This helps with searching for resources since colors are similar. It would be more convenient to disable them all, then pick the one you want.

Yes and remember settings so I don't have to do this every time I load the game.
I quite often disable all but the Grid and leave it on while building stuff.
