Considering sand is commonly found next to the sea as beaches on current maps (makes sense), this often makes mining these areas very difficult with conventional land mining vehicles, often leading to flooding issues and difficulty getting all of the deposit.
You can dump around them to isolate them from the sea, but this often results in burying the edges of the sand deposit.
I suggest sea based sand dredgers (see video):

Would be able to mine sand a few levels below sea level (say -2). Could deposit at smaller docks designed for mining resources.

It would be great to have a way to mine anything from the sea floor as we don't currently have a way to shrink the island. It would also help a lot with coastal deposits.
Can be used for landfill ( rainbowing ) / land reduction ( cutting ) . Can be operated basically in the same way as present diggers and stackers or a combination there off . Coastal resource sand can be mined that way as well . Other resources would require a more specialised ship like the south african gold mining vessel.
