Late game some items become useless with no way to dispose of them. (eg Lab Equipment, a stack of 1, 2 or 3 Servers etc.) Allowing the Waste Sorting Plant to recycle these items into their crafting materials would give the player a way to deal with these items without breaking the immersion the game has that items can't be just 'deleted'.
