When running a pipe or belt, (up or down) on a slope, the side profile should be straight. The ugly stair stepping thing just does not work well, and takes too long to do. Pressing the Shift key should give me a proper straight line on the ramps that are made with either the Dumping or Mining thing.
Transport belts and pipes vertical slope angle.
Also could in addition to this add a way of ramping the belts in a way to easier cross uneven terrain so you dont have to snake back and forth sideways to cover the distance.
Artificial ramps from dumping and digging have only 1 type of slope: increasing/decreasing elevation by 1 in the distance of 1 tile (4 cells). Existing belt slope is 1:2 and existing pipe slope is 1:1. By providing a 1:4 slope for belt and pipe we can have them hugging a artificial ramp nicely.
However, current implementation seems to disallow having more than 1 object in the same cube (1 cell square * 1 elevation level) even if they both occupy half of the space because they are running diagonally. That means 1:4 slope belt and pipe can only run at the height of 1+. If they run on the ground of the ramp they collide with the ground in some cubes.
I couldn't agree more. pipe really should follow the slope of the terrain ramps that are excavated/dumped. The stair stepping is really long overdue for an adjustment. I would choose this feature over the next update that is including trains anyday!
