Water Physics: Hydropower, pumping out flooded mines, diverting rivers, making canals. Rivers/Lakes.

Water physics/adding rivers/lakes, etc to the map. Would allow making of dams, hydropower, diverting rivers, pumping out flooded mines if you accidently break land into the ocean. Could also do Canals.

As the title suggests. A method to drain mines that have become flooded. Once sealed, It would be nice to have access again to the quarries. Making dams around under-water deposits to then drain the insides and mine resources otherwise inaccessible would be a nice late-game feature.
This includes oil mining on water (although an offshore mining rig would be simpler to introduce.

Rivers in game and the ability to use flowing water to generate electricity or spin a grain wheel. This could also allow for water falls.

By creating a Dike to close off a part of the sea/water body to later pump it dry and claim it as buildable land.

Thats whole reas i am here now, i had the exact same idear, just dumping an U and than pumping the water out, thats the best logical way.

SillySMS [ideas] · 3 years ago

Currently, the solution to flooded mines is to cut off access to the sea and refill to at least 0-level until the water disappears.
Water pumping would require some effort on the devs to change how water works in the game.

It would be nice to be able to dump liquids in a pit or mine with pollution etc. and pump it out afterwards or to bury them which make the pit overflow and keep pollution for much longer time.

so know this could change how the water mechanics work in this game But say you section a area of sea water of you should be able to use a Pump to train out the see from the manmade pit you built.
also say you make a mistake and some much needed land gets flooded again a drainage pump could be the rescue

Put some compost on it, it should work. (I have not tested that yet.)

Land reclamation from the sea and some way to be able to reclaim mined land would be great. Just spent four days letting mining operations level a level of land only to find out that I can't farm on it.
Having said that, great game! Looking forward to more refinments.

I think implementation of that would require water physics. But the idea itself sounds lovely.

the possibility to pump water from the pits.
the possibility to pump water into the pits.

- If a groundwater deposit reaches a certain threshold, a spring could form on the surface or on an adjacent lower surface nearby, and the water would travel downhill until it reaches the sea or seeps into the ground.
- Different materials/constructions being able to let water pass fully, at a slower pace, or to block passage. (e.g., Drainage Pipes, Rocks/Sand, Dirt/Retaining Walls, Rock)
- Infiltration / Seeping of water (Rainwater, still freshwater) into the ground (Ground below lakes (still freshwater) slowly replenishing or creating groundwater deposits.)

Streams slowly eroding the ground (possibly on a monthly basis at first after creation, and then on a yearly basis, once a full path to sea is established)

Devs could use the idea from Cities Skylines 1 for water physics in Unity engine.
